From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Returning items to the Library

In general, books, journals and A/V materials (DVDs, VHS, etc.) may be returned to any McGill library location.

Exceptions: The following items must be returned to the library from which they were borrowed:

  • Course reserves, maps, and equipment (e.g. video/audio recording and performance equipment)
  • Non-book materials (kits, puppets, etc.) from the Education Curriculum Resources Centre

After-hours return bins are available at the following branches:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences Library
  • Macdonald Campus Library (starting Monday, January 10, available from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm)
  • Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering

Faculty and students from a university in Quebec may return items borrowed from the McGill Libraries to the library of their university.

Please note: one overdue item will prevent all items on your account from renewing automatically. You are responsible for all late fees you accrue as a result. Please be sure to return all items on time.
