Returning items to the Library

In general, books, journals and A/V materials (DVDs, VHS, etc.) may be returned to any McGill Library branch.

Exceptions: The following items must be returned to the branch from which they were borrowed:

  • Course reserves, maps, and equipment (e.g. video/audio recording and performance equipment)
  • Non-book materials (kits, puppets, etc.) from the Education Curriculum Resources Centre

After-hours return bins are available at the following branches:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences Library
  • Macdonald Campus Library (starting Monday, January 10, available from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm)
  • Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering

Faculty and students from a university in Quebec may return items borrowed from the McGill Library to the library of their university.

Please note: one overdue item will prevent all items on your account from renewing automatically. You are responsible for all late fees you accrue as a result. Please be sure to return all items on time.
