As of March 28, 2024, books will begin to move from the basement of the Redpath Library Building to the McGill University Collections Centre (MUCC). Until the day of the move, the floor will remain open, and the books and study spaces will be fully accessible.
Exam period access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Winter 2024

As of Monday, April 8, McGill students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of McGill University (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the April 15 to 30 examination period.

Macdonald Campus Seed Library now open!

On Wednesday, March 6, 2024 the Macdonald Campus Library opened up its Seed Library for online orders. The seed catalogue is available to McGill students, faculty, and staff on opening day.
March 3 | Planned electrical shutdown at Marvin Duchow Music Library and Schulich Library

A major electrical shutdown scheduled to take place on the morning of Sunday, March 3, 2024* will affect multiple buildings on the downtown campus. The intervention will consist of a set of electrical shutdowns, starting at 6 a.m. and concluding by 12 p.m. (noon).

The fifth floor is now open.
As of January 22, 2024, the books will begin to move from the 5th floor of the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex to the McGill University Collections Center (MUCC). Until the day of the move, the floor will remain open, and the books and study spaces will be fully accessible.
Octagon Room in Islamic Studies Library closed as of November 22
Update: December 22, 2023 | Octagon Room construction in the Islamic Studies Library is now complete. The room has reopened to the public.
Exam period access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Fall 2023

No extended hours at Macdonald Campus Library on November 14 & 15 due to ventilation shutdown
Please note that there will be a ventilation shutdown at the Barton Building which houses the Macdonald Campus Library on Tuesday, November 14 and Wednesday, November 15 from 18:00 to 06:00. As a result, extended hours that run from 17:00 - midnight will be canceled on these two days.
This shutdown is necessary in order to perform general maintenance on ventilations systems. New bearings, belt, and pillow blocks will also be installed.
