Update: Automatic renewal issue for a portion of items due January 11
Update (January 14, 2021):
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Library extended all loans due during the campus shutdown to January 11, 2021. On this date, most loans for accounts in good standing we rolled into the new loans policy (automatic renewal every 30 days). Some loans did not automatically renew for accounts in good standing and the Library is working to address this issue.
Items checked out to patrons with accounts that were not in good standing did not renew; these items are now overdue.
Current Library patrons (i.e. enrolled students, faculty staff, registered and up-to-date alumni accounts, up-to-date paid memberships, etc.) may keep loaned items if it suits. Over the coming weeks, the Library will be adjusting accounts to update due dates for these items. Accounts in good standing will not be charged overdue fines for any items that did not automatically renew.
Non-current/expired patron accounts (i.e. former students not currently enrolled, paid accounts that have not been renewed, etc.), please return any checked out Library materials if possible. If this is not possible or safe to return items at this point, please keep them for the time being until it is possible to do so. Non-current/expired accounts will not be charged late fees for items that could not be returned on time due to the pandemic.
If you wish to return Library materials, please place the items in the returns bin on the street level at the McLennan Library Building (3459 McTavish Street Montreal, Quebec H3A 0C9). If you are out of town, please mail items to the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex or hold onto the item until the library reopens. Library books can also be returned at the Macdonald Campus. The library book return bin is located just inside the Link entrance (between the Barton Building and the Macdonald-Stewart Building), across from the Security Guard station. Please knock on the door, and inform the guard on duty that you need to access the library return bin. This return bin is available until 9 pm, Monday to Friday.
