Join ROAAr and Lora Baiocco, Online services and archives librarian at the Westmount Public Library, for a story told through Postcards. McGill University and Westmount Library share more than a Sherbrooke Street address; both libraries have important postcard collections. This lecture will trace the origins of the Westmount collection, highlight its particular focus on Quebec towns and villages, discuss the tools and tips for dating and understanding the postcards, and delve into an early 20thcentury love story from rural Quebec. Lora Baiocco will share the depths and delights of this world-class community-contributed postcard collection. Through donations arriving for 50 years, the Westmount collection contains a rich history of the province of Quebec, the lives of Westmounters, and many unique stories.Note: this will be a Hybrid event and we welcome those in the Montreal area to attend in person. We welcome all to tune in via Zoom. Please indicate on the RSVP form how you will attend.
