DESCRIPTION:Save the date for the McGill Law Journal's (MLJ) 2020 Annual Le
cture with James Tully\, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Law a
t University of Victoria.\n	\n	We know that law is a major enabler of the hu
man activities that cause climate change\, biodiversity destruction\, and
related eco-social crises. We also turn to the law to regulate\, mitigate
and attempt to transform these unsustainable human activities and systems.
Yet these regulatory regimes are often ‘recaptured’ or ‘overridden’ in tu
rn by the very anthropogenic processes causing the crises\, as Joseph Stig
ecture\, Professor Tully will set out basic features of this response and
discuss its strengths and weaknesses with the audience.\n	\n	La conférence s
on EventBrite.\n\nThis event is eligible for inclusion as continuing lega
l education as reported by members of the Barreau du Québec.\n
