 Good Faith in Contractual Relations

Courts across Canada have had opportunities to revisit the classic, but all-important theme of good faith in contractual relations. Is a Canadian-specific conception of the duty of good faith, one that crosses the traditional divide between the common law and the civil law, starting to emerge? And what are the impacts of the principle of good faith on long-term contracts, such as the one entered into between Hydro-Quebec and Newfoundland in connection with the Churchill Falls project?

Speakers: Professors Rosalie Jukier, Pierre Jobin and Stephen Smith (McGill), and Professor Michelle Cumyn (U. Laval)

Une pensée d’avance – Think Ahead

Each year, the Faculty of Law offers a series of five three-hour continuing legal education lectures on themes rooted at the very heart of contemporary legal issues. The lectures, accredited by the Barreau and the Chambre des notaires du Québec, are offered in the evenings, 6 – 9 p.m., by professors and prominent graduates of the Faculty. Most of the lectures are bilingual, with parts in French and others in English.

Come broaden your legal knowledge, network with colleagues and meet your continuing legal education obligations by registering for one or several of the lectures in the "Une pensée d’avance – Think Ahead" series.

Registration is open: https://www.mcgill.ca/law/registration-step-1
