The McGill Journal of Law and Health (MJLH) is holding its sixth annual colloquium at the Faculty of Law, titled Litigating for health care reform in Canada: How new legal challenges aim to extend Chaoulli’s scope. 

The Colloquium will address legal and policy issues associated with challenges in new cases coming from Alberta and British Columbia aiming to extend the reach of the decision in Chaoulli v. Quebec [2005], and how these legal challenges will influence the future of Canada’s public healthcare system.

The Faculty of Law was delighted to learn that on January 29, 2014, adjunct professor Jeffrey Edwards (BCL’86, LLB’86) was appointed to the Civil Division of the Court of Quebec in Montreal.

Justice Edwards, who was admitted to the Bar in 1987, has mostly practiced civil and commercial litigation. He is also an accredited arbitrator and mediator, and as such, he specializes in the resolution of construction and product quality claims.

Marie Mercat-Bruns is a tenured Associate Law Professor at the Labor and Employment Law Chair of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) where she is a member of the Research Institute LISE CNRS (Group, Relational Theories on Gender).

She is also a member of the scientific committee of Presage (Sciences Po/OFCE Research and Academic Program on Gender Thinking).
