Education is one of the chief interests of families, of religious communities, and of society and the state; it is both a field of cooperation between private and public bodies and, by nature, a primary cultural and political battleground. It has long been a legal battleground as well, particularly where religious issues arise.
McGill’s Faculty of Law looks forward to welcoming prospective students and their families as part of the annual McGill Open House event. Stop by Faculty of Law to speak with the admissions staff and law students, attend an information session (in French and in English), and get a tour of our premises here at Chancellor Day Hall.
Any prospective law school applicant in the Greater Toronto Area is welcome to visit us at the Law School Admission Council Canadian Forum.
The McGill Law Assistant Dean of Admissions & Recruitment will be present, as well as Toronto-based alumni.

For the first time, the McGill Faculty of Law is participating in the recruitment forum of the Law School Admission Council being held in New York City.
In collaboration with the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, we will be on site (table 601) to provide information to prospective applicants currently in the United States about the possibility of studying law in Canada, and particularly at McGill.
On August 20, 2013, Fred Headon (BCL’96, LLB’96) took over the helm as President of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) during the closing luncheon of the CBA's annual Legal Conference in Saskatoon.
Headon currently leads Air Canada’s in-house labour and employment law team at the company’s headquarters in Montreal. From 1999 to 2006, he practised labour and employment law, human rights and privacy law, and administrative and constitutional law at McCarthy Tétrault in Montreal.
The Faculty of Law was delighted to learn that our colleague Daniel Boyer (BA’79, MLIS’88), Head Librarian of the Nahum Gelber Law Library, was named Associate Dean of User Services of the McGill Library for a two-year mandate.
As well, Me Boyer has also been named to the board of directors of the Société québécoise d'information juridique (SOQUIJ) for a period of five years, following the recommendation of the Deans of law faculties across Quebec.
The McGill Law Admissions team will be participating in Concordia University’s “Applying to Law School” workshop.
Interested Concordia students should register through Concordia's Counselling and Development Office.
Diversity and excellence are essential to the McGill Faculty of Law. Indeed, our Faculty’s excellence is based on its diversity.
Following the success of last year’s recruitment event organized in collaboration with the McGill Black Law Students Association (BLSAM), and other student clubs, we are pleased to invite students of colour and students from marginalized backgrounds to an event designed specifically for them.
All prospective applicants to the B.C.L./LL.B. program of Law are invited to attend our admission plenary. Come learn from Admissions Officers about the faculty and program, our admission policy and process, important deadlines, etc. There will also be a Q&A section, as well as a Student Ambassador testimonial.
Those unable to attend can view the webcast.
