Marco Silvio Giuseppe Senaldi

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Psychology at McGill University, working under the co-supervision of Dr. Titone and Dr. Johns. I received my PhD in Linguistics at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa (Italy) under the mentorship of Prof. Alessandro Lenci and Prof. Pier Marco Bertinetto.

My research focuses on exploring the relationship between language environment and people's linguistic behaviour with computational and psycholinguistic techniques. More specifically, an integral part of the linguistic input we are exposed to consists of formally fixed and semantically non-compositional multiword and idiomatic phrases. On the computational side, I am interested in devising distributional semantic algorithms for compositionality assessment and automatic multiword identification in corpora. On the psycholinguistic side, I am interested in investigating which factors influence the comprehension of multiword units and idioms in a first and second language through controlled experimental paradigms.
