Dr. Ilja Frissen is an Associate Professor in the School of Information Studies at McGill University and co-founder of the Knowah Research Lab on human knowledge sharing. Ilja Frissen holds a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and a Master’s degree in cognitive psychology, with a specialization in human factors, from Maastricht University, also in the Netherlands. He has completed postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, the School of Information Studies at McGill, and at l'Institut de Recherche en Communications et Cybernétique de Nantes. Ilja’s research focuses on human perception, with emphasis on multisensory perception, haptics, and spatial hearing. He is a fellow of the Psychonomics Society and a member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology in Montreal.
