The Macdonald Stewart Foundation & McGill University
By Bruce Bolton
The Macdonald Stewart Foundation, the successor of the Cairngorm Fund 1952-1972, continues the philanthropic tradition of Sir William Macdonald (1831–1917) and his heirs - the Stewart family. The Foundation’s focus is primarily upon the Humanities, Education, and Health. Continuing Sir William’s legacy of supporting McGill University remains a major objective.
Bruce D. Bolton, BSc’72, MMM, CD, ChLHon Executive Director of the Macdonald Stewart Foundation, has assisted – among other things – in establishing McGill’s Chair in Canadian Scottish Studies. He began playing bagpipes at the age of 10 and has been associated with the Foundation since 1966.
