McGill University has long enjoyed a significant international reputation.
In 2024, the University created the office of Vice-President (Global Engagement).
The first draft of the University’s Global Engagement Strategy, 2025-2030,
identified five “pillars” for future activities:
International Research, Global Mobility, Alumni Engagement,
International Partnerships, and Transnational Education.
Following extensive consultation within the McGill community, a final draft will soon appear, with implementation beginning in 2026. Several initiatives are already underway.
Dr. Anja Geitmann is McGill’s first Vice-President (Global Engagement).
She came to McGill in 2015 as Professor of Plant Science,
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science,
and
Associate Vice-Principal (Macdonald Campus).
She was previously professor, Department of Biological Sciences, Université de Montréal.
Her degrees are from German and Italian universities.
All are Welcome
