Over the last 24 hours we have experienced problems with most of our IT systems, including email and Minerva, among others.
The cause of the problem was a loss of electrical power to the Burnside Hall data centre, which occurred during a scheduled power transfer, as well as the failure of the backup generator to switch into operation.
Without backup power, the ITS systems shut down in an uncontrolled fashion. ITS staff have been working diligently to bring these systems back up and to synchronize them.
University Services and Network and Communications Services are investigating the root cause of this failure. We apologize for any inconvenience and we thank you for your understanding.
