MUNACA employees: Access to IT services after strike

VHS/VCRs phased out of McGill classrooms

Support for VHS technology is being phased out of McGill classrooms because VCRs are no longer being manufactured. When a VCR breaks it will no longer be fixed or replaced and new installations will not include VCRs. In larger classrooms a Blu-ray device will be installed.

Email delivery delays to Yahoo addresses

Email messages addressed to Yahoo domains (yahoo.com, yahoo.ca, etc.) from McGill mail servers are currently being delayed. It seems the Yahoo server has "greylisted" McGill email, probably due to a large quantity of emails coming from McGill within a short period of time. Delivery delays can be anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the yahoo destination server.

Problem with network shared drives and staff storage

There is currently a problem with McGill file servers that mainly affects administrative staff members. When attempting to access your shared network drives, you may receive the error message that they are "not accessible". Technical staff are looking into the issue and hope to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Default out-of-office autoreplies added to the accounts of MUNACA employees

Due to the labour disruption at McGill University, default out-of-office replies have been automatically created for the email accounts of employees on strike. We wish to assure these employees that even though autoreply settings on their accounts have been temporarily changed, no password or any other sensitive personal information was revealed in the process.

EVault maintenance tonight starting at midnight

EVault, the email archiving system, requires an urgent maintenance operation to begin at midnight tonight, Friday, August 19. The work is expected to extend into the weekend. During the maintenance you will not be able to search the eVault archived messages. However, you will still be able to access archived messages via links.

Staff email moving to Exchange server 2010

Staff mailboxes will be moved to Exchange server 2010 in batches starting on August 8. Staff will receive general and personal email notifications from IT Services before accounts are moved, with any pertinent details about the move, including any action you need to take in preparation.
