Athletics On-Line Services downtime: October 2 - 5


The McGill Athletics On-Line Services site will be unavailable from Friday, October 2,  at 3 pm to Monday, October 5, at 9 am, due to a site upgrade. 

iOS 9 mobile users: consider disabling the Wi-Fi Assist feature

If your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 9, you may want to disable a new feature called Wi-Fi Assist. If you're somewhere where your Wi-Fi signal is deemed to be too slow or unreliable, it will switch to use your data connection.

The feature is meant to give you a more seamless experience when on spotty Wi-Fi networks, but this also means eating through your 500mb data cap without knowing it. You might think you’re safely Youtubing while on Wi-Fi, but instead it's using the 3G / LTE.

As of Monday, September 28, 2015, McGill’s Yammer site is now available and accessible through the Microsoft Office 365 portal for all McGill faculty, staff and students. Yammer is like a private Facebook site for McGill, where you can share information with the entire University, join or create discussion groups on topics that interest you, and start building communities.

RESOLVED - myCourses: users unable to access

12:15PM - myCourses is now fully accessible.


The myCourses Learning Management System is currently inaccessible for many users. Users may be unable to access the system or navigation may be slow.

The system provider is looking into the issue; we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

EndNote Mac users: hold off on installing Office 2016

EndNote X7 is not currently compatible with Microsoft Word 2016 for Mac. The vendor, Thomson Reuters, will be releasing a free patch for it in September or October. In the meantime, Office 2011 is available for free to McGill students, faculty, and staff through the Office 365 site.

If you've already installed Office 2016, however, workarounds are available.

uApply (Graduate Admissions System) maintenance - September 14


The uApply system will undergo scheduled maintenance on Monday, September 16, between 4 pm and 6 pm. The system will be unavailable during this period.

Phishing scam - You have been selected to participate in a survey

Currently a phishing email is circulating, which appears to invite the recipient to participate in an anonymous survey about experiences with McGill University.

myCourses system maintenance Sunday, September 6


myCourses will be unavailable on Sunday, September 6, 2015 from 1 am to 7 am due to scheduled system maintenance.

Resolved: myCourses - course enrolment issues

We have resolved the enrolment issues in myCourses and expect course enrolments from this week to be completely synced by this evening. Due to the start of the semester, please allow some time for your enrolment to be transferred into myCourses.

If, however, your course does not appear in myCourses by Tuesday, September 8, please email the IT Service Desk at itsupport [at] mcgill [dot] ca and provide your enrolment time in Minerva and course information.
