TAKE NOTE: Being authorized to study part-time by the Internships and Student Affairs Office doesn't guarantee eligibility for Bourse Perspective and other Scholarships/Awards.

Bourses d’excellence aux futurs enseignants program

The Quebec Ministry of Education has launched the Bourses d’excellence aux futurs enseignants program, offering $15.8 million dollars in scholarship money to Education students enrolled in a full-time Bachelor of Education program leading to teacher certification.

The value of each scholarship is $7,500 annually. The Bourses d’excellence scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence; students need not apply. For the 2023-24 academic year, the Faculty of Education will distribute 42 scholarships for students in Years 1, 2, 3, and 4 (for a total of 168 scholarships). These numbers are pro-rated across the following B.Ed. programs: Kindergarten/Elementary, Kindergarten/Elementary - First Nations and Inuit Studies (OFNIE), Music, Physical and Health Education, Secondary, and TESL.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Completed 12 graded* credits in the Fall 2022 term (if returning student)
  • Completed 12 graded* credits in the Winter 2023 term (if returning student)
    • *Graded credits = credits completed for courses that were given letter grades (A-D, P), and were not graded under any Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) option.
  • Registered full-time in the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms (excluding students graduating in the Fall 2023 term)
    • Students who were on the Faculty’s authorized part-time study list during Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 will remain eligible if their extenuating circumstances are recognized by the Ministry of Education (e.g. are registered with the Office for Student Accessibility & Achievement, were registered part-time because of advanced standing/program progression).

Students who must be part-time in Fall 2023 and require part-time status authorization must submit ISA’s Request for Permission to Study Part-time form as soon as possible, and prior to the add/drop deadline. This year we are planning to select students for the program in October. It is therefore imperative that you are registered full-time (12 credits or more) or have submitted the Request for Permission to Study Part-time by the add/drop deadline. You can still make changes to your Fall 2023 course selections until the Add/Drop deadline on September 12; however, please make sure that you maintain 12 credits or more in your Fall 2023 term during this period.

TAKE NOTE: The Faculty of Education is required to check recipients’ records throughout the year, and the scholarship will be revoked if a recipient falls into unauthorized part-time status in the Fall and/or Winter term.
