DESCRIPTION:MyInvolvement pages are for in-person attendees only. To regist
er for the online session\, please use the Microsoft Forms link:Participan
ts that are not part of the McGill Community are also invited to register
with the Microsoft Forms link. In this 4-hour workshop\, participants will
be introduced to the fundamentals of high-throughput proteomics and prote
in analysis. Attendees will learn about high-throughput proteomic methodol
ogies\, data production\, and formats. Combining structured modules and pr
actical exercises\, participants will learn how to apply theoretical conce
pts\, conduct association studies with proteomics\, and find genetic assoc
iations with protein levels. By the end of this workshop\, participants wi
ll be able to:1. Differentiate between the two popular high throughput pro
teomic technologies (SomaLogic and OLink) and understand the differences b
etween the two platforms.2. Revise basic linear regression\, an introducti
on to other types of models such as GAMs and LMMs\, and will learn how to
decide whether a model is appropriate.3. Conduct hands-on quality control\
, generate some models to adequately reflect proteomic information\, and d
erive basic analyses from the information.4. Conduct protein GWAS and cis
vs. trans pQTL analysis.  Pre-requisites:1. Basic understanding of R (the
Intro to R by MiCM is sufficient) - with RStudio already installed.2. A co
mputer with a minimum of 2GB free disk space\, running a current version o
f Windows\, Mac OS X\, or Linux.3. Necessary packages installed. **IMPORTA
NT NOTICE: Attendance for McGill graduate students and postdoctoral fellow
s is subsidized by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. All other attendees
such as undergraduate students\, interns and/or graduate students from oth
er institutions are required to purchase a ticket to cover organizational
and staffing costs. To complete your registration\, you must e-transfer $1
0 (undergraduate student/trainee) $25 (staff) or $100 (faculty) to worksho
p-micm [at] mcgill.ca within 24 hours of RSVP'ing to this event. If we do
not receive your e-transfer\, you will have given up your spot.Online Even
