#ConsentMcGill - Trauma-Informed Yoga for Students
Come join the Office for Sexual Violence Response, Support and Education for a Trauma-Informed yoga session. Trauma-Informed Yoga is an alternative yoga practice, which centers on safety, choice, and autonomy. It is a gentle, body-based movement practice, which integrates mindfulness and breathing exercises. Participants are encouraged to move at their own rhythm and make the practice their own through optional modifications.
The session will be guided by The Yogini Nancy, a certified teacher in multiple kinds of yoga practices, including Yin, Gentle, Hatha, Trauma-Informed and pre and post-natal yoga. Nancy is a McGill Law School graduate and an advocate for racial justice and mental health. She is a strong believer in the power of yoga and meditation to restore peace of mind. Her intention is to teach in a joyful way that nourishes the mind, body and soul. Visit her LinkTree for more information on her teaching and more opportunities to practice with her: https://linktr.ee/theyogininancy.
We kindly ask you to bring your own yoga mat. If you have access to yoga blocks, they might be helpful, but they are not necessary.
IMPORTANT: the Equity Office door will be locked, so we will meet as a group at 5:50pm at OSVRSE and head to the Equity Office together. You can find instructions on how to get to OSVRSE through the following link: Map | Office for Sexual Violence Response, Support and Education - McGill University
The Equity Office is located in a wheelchair accessible building. Please contact us if you have accessibility needs by emailing osvrse [at] mcgill.ca. We will do our best to meet them.
