Promote Yourself: How to Build and Leverage Your Co-Curricular Record for Grad School, the Work Force, and Beyond!

A flowchart showing participation leading to CCR recognition

The Co-Curricular Record is a companion piece to the Academic Transcript: one shows your successes in the classroom while the other showcases what you did outside of it! Both can be useful tools as you look for new opportunities. What skills have you acquired that might make you stand out as you search for a summer internship? What makes you a unique candidate for medical school? What leadership experiences make you the perfect applicant for that dream job?

Your Co-Curricular Record will help you as you continue to promote yourself. Having your co-curricular activities listed in one document can help you as you revise your CV or cover letter, prepare for interviews, or explore your internship/career options. In addition, it offers you a record of your involvement in meaningful learning opportunities outside the classroom, should you ever require it.

Check out the Career Planning Service (CaPS) to learn more about how you can leverage your experiences in your job search tools! CaPS offers a variety of services for students including career advising, drop-in hours, career fairs, networking events, mentoring programs, and a library of career-related resources. In addition, we host myFuture, a job search and career tool suite to help students and alumni search for jobs, internships, and more.
