Simone Cavanaugh, BCL/LLB International Human Rights and Development
In an effort to dispel myths about disability and focus on capacities, to enhance understanding of the local legal and human rights framework, and to introduce and provide opportunities to practice concrete advocacy skills, I plan to conduct a series of advocacy workshops for families of children with disabilities in rural Nicaraguan communities. Families who participate in these workshops will then be equipped to facilitate them in their own communities

Gabriela Kassel Gomez, MA Educational Psychology
Through articulation of our story we gain ownership of identity and strength of self. Fueled by this principle, this initiative seeks to help young transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) youth harness the power of their own stories through art-based workshops. The workshops will be run by other TGNC artists and community leaders, helping youth solidify community connections and envision brighter futures.

Anthony Sardain, MA Statistical Modelling and Biology
I will be working with the indigenous Embera of Piriati in eastern Panama to facilitate the design of a strategy to reforest the community’s degraded communal lands. In addition to facilitating the planning process, I will be assisting the community in articulating a formal demand for its financing through a carbon fund.
