Newly Graduated Students

Congratulations on graduation!

Graduating students, who have at least one registered term within the current academic year (September 1st to August 31st), are eligible to keep the IHI contract until the end of McGill's academic year - August 31st .

If you would like to cancel your IHI plan after your final term at McGill, please refer to the Cancelling your insurance policy webpage for more information.

Please note that if you have graduated, you may not be able to access McGill's Student Wellness Hub. Please contact them for more information.

Students who graduate and obtain an open 3-year Post-Graduate Work Permit are eligible for Quebec Medicare (RAMQ coverage)

You must obtain the Post-Graduation work permit (PGWP) first before you can registered as temporary worker for the RAMQ plan.  In order to register, you must complete online form and/or review situations in which you must contact RAMQ to register. If you must contact RAMQ for further questions, you can schedule a telephone appointment online

Please note, we suggest that you register for RAMQ coverage as soon as you will obtain your PGWP since there is a three-month waiting period following your registration with the RAMQ. Once RAMQ has been obtained, you may need to purchase supplemental health insurance. RAMQ provides only basic benefits - for more information on what is covered, please visit the RAMQ website.
