            1. International students with a valid study permit (or approval letter) can travel to Canada (McGill is on the list of DLIs with an approved COVID-19 readiness plan). Before making travel plans, please refer to our Entering Canada page.
            2. Fully vaccinated travellers authorized to enter Canada by land or by air, are now exempt from the federal requirement to undergo a 14-day quarantine. The 14-day quarantine continues to be required for all other travellers who are not considered fully vaccinated.

Newly Graduated Students

Before reviewing the information below, please see ISS' COVID-19 FAQs and resources pages for up to date information on the impact of COVID-19 on immigration related matters.

Congratulations on graduation!

Graduating students, who have at least one registered term within the current academic year that they are registered in, are eligible to keep the IHI contract until the end of the academic year - August 31. For example: for the 2021-2022 academic year, a student’s last registered term is the fall 2021 term. The student pays all associated fees for the fall 2021 term and graduates during the winter 2022 term (February 2022). The student is eligible to keep their IHI contract that they activated during fall 2021 until the end of the academic year - August 31, 2022.

Students who graduate and obtain an open 3-year Post-Graduate Work Permit are now eligible for Quebec Medicare. For more information, please contact the Quebec Medicare office:
