Dr Susan Kahn appointed Associate Chair, Research

Dr Susan Kahn was appointed to the position of Associate Chair, Research, in the McGill Department of Medicine, effective November 15, 2020. Dr Kahn will focus on capacity building in basic/clinical research, the growth in DOM research publications/impact and in research grant funding and will develop mechanisms to ensure the regular measurement and reporting on DOM research metrics. As Associate Chair, she will work in close collaboration with internal (McGill and partner institutions) and external (e.g. FRQS, CIHR) research organizations to help us reach an even higher level of excellence. Dr Kahn was named clinician scientist of the year in 2019 at the Lady Davis Research Institute where she served as Associate Director for Clinical Research from 2005-2015. At the national level, Dr Kahn is the co-founder and co-director of the Canadian Venous Thromboembolism Research Network (CanVECTOR), the first national VTE research and training network, and is in involved in various scientific organizations, including membership on the Institute Advisory Board for the Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health, Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Internationally, Dr Kahn is recognized for myriad scientific contributions to the field of venous thromboembolism. Dr Kahn will develop robust research mentorship and further the planning, development and expansion of DOM’s research mission across all sites.
