 50660\n\nAbout Phyllis Webstad\n\nPhyllis Webstad is a residential school 
 Survivor\, author\, speaker\, and the CEO and Co-Founder of the Orange Shi
 rt Society. She is best known for sharing the story that inspired Orange S
 hirt Day and the national movement Every Child Matters. At six years old\,
  Phyllis attended The St. Joseph Mission Indian Residential School\, also 
 known as The Mission\, in 1973–1974. On her first day\, the new orange shi
 rt her grandmother had bought for her was taken away. That experience stay
 ed with her and became a powerful symbol of the loss\, harm\, and lasting 
 impacts experienced by children who were forced to attend residential scho
 ols. Through the Orange Shirt Society\, Phyllis continues to educate commu
 nities across the country about the history and legacy of the Indian resid
 ential school system. As a speaker\, she creates space for learning\, refl
 ection\, truth\, and healing by sharing her personal story and the message
  that every child matters.\n
