  22nd\, 2023 - 4:00-6:00 pm\n\nSpeaker bio: \n\nTiffany Shaw is a Métis ar
 chitect\, artist and curator based in Alberta. She holds a BFA from Nova S
 cotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) University\, a Masters in Architec
 ture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) and 
 is currently working at Reimagine Architects. Shaw has exhibited widely in
 cluding the Architecture Venice Biennale\, Winnipeg Art Gallery\, Pier 21\
 , Agnes Etherington Art Centre and the Chicago Architecture Biennial. She 
 has been the recipient of multiple public art commissions such as Edmonton
 's Indigenous Art Park and Winnipeg’s Markham Bus Station. Among her publi
 c art projects Tiffany has produced several notable transitory art works a
 nd is a core member of Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective.\n\nOscillatin
 g between digital and analogue methodologies Shaw’s work gathers notions o
 f craft\, memory and atmosphere. Her practice is often guided by communal 
 interventions as a way to engage a lifted understanding of place. While bo
 rn in Calgary and raised in Edmonton\, Shaw’s Métis lineage derives from F
 ort McMurray via Fort McKay and the Red River.\n\nMore on ISCEI and its Ar
 tist-in-Residence program:\n\nThe Artist-in-Residence program is one of th
 e initiatives funded by the five-year\, US$1.25-million grant by the Andre
 w W. Mellon Foundation in June 2019 to support McGill’s Indigenous Studies
  and Community Engagement Initiative (ISCEI). The ISCEI promotes the growt
 h of the Indigenous Studies Program in the Faculty of Arts\, and aims to s
 erve as a nexus for Indigenous scholarship and community-building and to f
 acilitate communication and collaboration both across units at McGill\, as
  well as in partnership with Indigenous communities.\n\nThe Artist-in-Resi
 dence program is an important means of bringing practicing artists to camp
 us to continue their work\, share their expertise\, interact with students
  and faculty members\, and enhance knowledge of and exposure to Indigenous
  art among the campus community and the public at large. The Artist-in-Res
 idence will be involved in a variety of on-campus activities such as works
 hops and public exhibitions\, and will be available as a resource to stude
 nts\, faculty\, and staff.  \n
