Grounded in participatory video and mobile media, cellphilm production allows groups to come together to highlight critical issues in their lives through the use of cellphones. With this in mind, the organizers of this year's festival invite submissions that explore how you and your community (a small group of friends, members of a project or class, research colleagues, a global community, etc.) picture change in your neighbourhood, your community, your country or your planet. You may choose to do this in view of a particularly critical issue, or, alternatively, to consider what 'picturing change' might mean in a context where people often struggle to envision a different way of being in the world. Submissions should be no more than 90 seconds and should be uploaded to YouTube. Along with your YouTube link, we ask that you also submit a 200-300 word write-up that includes the time of your cellphilm and its country of origin, the names of all the cellphilm's co-producers, and a short description of how your group went about creating the submission as well as the film's connection to this year's theme. All submissions should be sent to thecellphilmfestival [at] gmail.com by Monday, November 18, 2019. Winners of the festival will be announced through a virtual screening which will be held in December 2019.

The official Festival will be held on January 14 in Room 200 of the Coach house: 3715 Peel Street, Montreal, QC.

Prizes will be awarded.
