GSFS Advising

Solidarity Statement

McGill’s IGSF stands in solidarity with Black communities in the U.S., Canada, and around the world. We mourn the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless others who have lost their lives to police violence. We condemn the structures of anti-Blackness, oppression, violence, bigotry and hatred directly affecting the lives of millions of Black people all over the world.

As we face racist violence, pandemic, isolation, and fear, the IGSF remains committed to developing resources and spaces in support of communities suffering the effects of systemic racial injustice. We call upon the knowledge and work of our community to develop critical responses to counter racial injustice and violence in all its forms.

With others at McGill, we affirm principles of racial and social justice, and we call for leadership based in knowledge, critical perspectives, compassion, and courage.
