Confidentiality of personal information
Pension Administration respects your privacy. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information on McGill University Pension Plan members is subject to privacy legislation as well as University policy on staff files and confidentiality of personal information. All files maintained in the Human Resources - Pension Administration are considered to be private and confidential.
Pension Administration is committed to controlling the collection, use and disclosure of personal information maintained on pension plan members. Use and transmission of personal information is restricted for the sole purpose of pension plan administration. Information may be shared with agents and service providers and other units of the University as may be required in order to provide for the administration of the plan. Information collected will include the Social Insurance Number which is required for tax reporting purposes and marital information which is required under pension legislation.
Plan member’s personal information is not sold to anyone under any circumstances. In Pension Administration, access to information is restricted to staff who need the information to do their work.
Any McGill University Pension Plan member may review the content of their personal pension file by presenting themselves at the Pension Administration during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Alternatively, members may access their personal pension account records on-line. Security procedures are in place in order to safeguard against unauthorized access to your account information. On an annual basis, all plan members are provided with a statement of their account.
