Talks continue with SEU on incidental illnesses (facilities)

Published: 3 March 2014

During the February 19, 2014 session, the parties continued to discuss the justification of incidental illnesses. The university indicated its position concerning the union’s February 5 proposal on the length of absence requiring justification.

The university expressed its concerns as to the effects this could have on managing staff presence and submitted a counter-proposal to the union. After review of the proposal, the union indicated that the university’s proposal did not address the concerns of its membership. The parties did not reach an agreement on this topic. The next meeting will take place on March 12 and the change in pay frequency will be on the agenda.

The 3 bargaining units in question are: computing centre, printing services and facilities management/residences/Faculty Club, represented by SEU (Service Employees Union, local section 800, affiliated with the Quebec Labour Federation).
