The parties met on April 16, 2014 and discussed several topics – among them, a letter of agreement in printing services concerning the pickup and delivery of packages and mail, conversion of overtime into time off, vacation taken in days, social leaves and text adjustments relating to the departmental split of dining services and student housing services.
After discussion, the parties made some progress on the questions concerning overtime conversion in time off and vacation taken in days. Some exploratory solutions were examined and it was agreed that each party would think about possible solutions and come back with proposals at the next meeting. McGill handed the union several text adjustments concerning the departmental split. The union will review these texts and offer comments at the meeting, scheduled for April 23. The parties were not able to reach an agreement on the other topics mentioned above. The union asked for the withdrawal of the agreement in printing and withdrew its proposal on social leaves.
The 3 bargaining units in question are: computing centre, printing services and facilities management/residences/Faculty Club, represented by SEU (Service Employees Union, local section 800, affiliated with the Quebec Labour Federation).
