On August 28, the parties met in the presence of a Conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labour. In response to a Union proposal made on June 26, McGill presented a global proposal including all previously agreed upon items, pending items, and a detailed monetary offer.
The Union reviewed McGill’s proposal and presented a counter-proposal, but the parties were unable to pursue discussions further at this stage. Before continuing the discussions, the parties must agree on which salary scales should be used as the basis of their discussions. As well, the Union informed the Conciliator that it needed to consult its membership and seek further advice before proceeding. The Conciliator will reconvene the parties at a later date.
