The parties met on September 24 to discuss the mechanism of potentially implementing technical support roles. Although the parties see the advantages of introducing such roles, no agreement was reached as the parties could not agree on the description to include in the collective agreement or on the premium to be paid.
McGill and SEU (trades) discuss change to a bi-weekly pay frequency
On October 7, the parties met for half a day. A general presentation was given on the change to a bi-weekly pay frequency. The parties briefly discussed the implementation mechanism of transiting to a biweekly payroll. It was agreed to continue talks at the following meeting.
The parties met on October 22 and continued to discuss the implementation of a biweekly payroll and paperless pay. A tentative agreement was reached on the transition process. However, it was proposed that the decision be made when discussing monetary clauses.
McGill and SEU (trades) discuss list of positions in collective agreement
On November 19, the parties discussed the list of positions included in the collective agreement. They also agreed to make several adjustments to the text. Many of the adjustments were caused by the change in coverage at the Macdonald Campus Powerhouse. The parties also started discussing temporary alternative work arrangements (TAWA).
The 4 bargaining units involved in these negotiations are employees from trades and from powerhouse downtown, and employees from trades and from powerhouse Macdonald campus, represented by SEU, local 800 (Service Employees Union, local section 800, affiliated with the Québec Labour Federation.
