Global offer to be presented to TAs by Oct. 2

The parties met on September 1, 2015 in the presence of a conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labour. This was the first meeting after the summer break. The parties continued several discussions which were initiated in previous meetings.

Subjects included the ratio of TA hours to undergraduate students, discrimination and harassment, the suspension of delays during the summer months, the appointment process, and hourly pay increases. Since these subjects were already discussed at length in previous meetings, the parties were able to identify where agreements could be reached.

The University presented a global settlement offer which the Union has agreed to present to their members for ratification by October 2, 2015. In preparation for the ratification vote, the Union will hold information sessions with their membership throughout September.

This update is meant to inform the community about ongoing negotiations with AGSEM teaching assistants in view of the renewal of their collective agreement, and is issued with validation from the Union.
