The parties met briefly on May 23 in the presence of the conciliator appointed by the Department of Labour. The meeting served to assess whether an agreement could possibly be reached at this time.
Since it was not possible to reach an agreement, the parties decided to pause for the summer. The pending items are: discrimination and harassment clause, protection of teaching assistants’ hours, wage increases and duration of the agreement. The parties will reconvene in conciliation on September 1st.
