Black walnut is not a tree you will see in Montréal unless you find one that has been planted. It is native to the region, but extremely rare. The nuts are good to eat, and the husks are used as a fabric dye. In the Morgan Arboretum, there is a large plantation of these trees that was made in the 1950s. Babies of these trees can now be found in other parts of the Arboretum’s forests!
