The HBHL-sponsored 4th Annual Neuro National Clinical Trial Training Program covered education and training on clinical trial readiness, medical monitoring, CROs, novel technology in clinical trials, consortium trials, trial design, drug safety, clinical trial outcome measures, and more.

May 9-10, 2019: Inaugural meeting of the Global Brain Consortium

On May 9 and 10, experts from around the world gathered at McGill University to address global disparities in brain and mental health research and treatment, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

May 3, 2019: HBHL Research Day

HBHL's annual Research Day showcased the research of trainees (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) working in areas related to HBHL's goals and priorities. See photos of this event.

April 3, 2019: Creating an inclusive science ecosystem: A panel discussion on equity, diversity, and inclusion in academia

Panelists discussed the current state of equity, diversity, and inclusion in academia, drawing on their personal and professional experiences, as well as EDI-related research and activism, to identify gaps and envision practical change processes.

March 19, 2019: How To Plan Your Life: Individual development planning

Participants discussed what is involved in creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and worked on activities designed to help them reflect on their academic and professional goals.

March 13, 2019: The Competitive Edge: Writing a successful HBHL Fellowship application

At this workshop, participants learned about the requirements, evaluation criteria, and evaluation process of the Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives Graduate Student Fellowship. This event was offered in collaboration with Graphos.

February 13, 2019: Trainee Get-Together

The HBHL Trainee Committee hosted a monthly Trainee Get-Together event on February 13, 2019. To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, this event featured an all-female panel with a keynote from Dr. Celia Greenwood and flash talks from HBHL Fellows Amanda McFarlan and Caitlin Fowler. January 22, 2019: How to make more than minimum wage in grad school

At this seminar, participants were introduced to a variety of funding sources for research trainees, including Tri-Council scholarships, McGill-internal awards, collaboration with industry through Mitacs fellowships as well as lesser-known alternative sources of funding.

November 14, 2018: From divergent thinking to convergent solutions: Including creative thinking in your research

This HBHL workshop facilitated by the Convergence Initiative offered participants a chance to use the creative process to learn practical strategies for multitasking, solving complex problems, and generating new ideas for research and work. See photos of this event.

October 23, 2018: The neuroscience of persuasion and effective public speaking
