9:00-11:00 a.m.: Strain on the brain: Reducing stress to improve brain health
How does stress affect the brain and behaviour? What can you do to reduce and manage stress? At this workshop, Aislinn Sandre (PhD candidate, Psychology, McGill University) will discuss the neuroscience of stress as well as research-supported tips for stress management. The workshop will include interactive discussion and activities focused on real-world application of the presented research.

11:00-11:15 a.m.: Coffee break

11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m.: Healthy screen-time and smartphone use: Ongoing questions and emerging research
Speakers: Dr. Samuel Veissière (Assistant Professor, Psychiatry, McGill University) and Dasha Sandra (MSc Candidate, Department of Medicine, McGill University)

1:15-2:15 p.m.: Lunch

2:15-2:45 p.m.: The Neuroscience of Sleep
Speaker: Dr. Barbara Jones (Professor, Neurology and Neurosurgery, McGill University)

2:45-4:15 p.m.: How to get a good night’s sleep in the modern age
Speakers: Drs. Aurore Perrault and Nathan Cross (Postdoctoral Fellows in the Sleep, Cognition and Neuroimaging Laboratory, Concordia University)

This interactive workshop will cover:

  • What sleep hygiene is
  • How and why to integrate better sleep habits into a busy lifestyle
  • How sleep deprivation and poor sleep hygiene affects health
  • Debunking myths about sleep
