Overcoming Writing Blocks

Being a graduate student involves a lot of writing, but writing is rarely a smooth and effortless process. Most of us have felt stuck and unable to write at some point, for various reasons. Whatever the cause, there are strategies that can keep your writing moving forward. This workshop is designed to help graduate students learn practical ways to make writing a regular habit.

Participate in the workshop and you will:

  • Identify barriers to writing successfully and learn how to overcome them
  • Develop practical tools to get back to writing when you are feeling stuck
  • Learn strategies to help you develop productive habits of writing

You should come to the workshop with:

  • Your computer or a pad of paper to write on.

This workshop will be led by Mariève Isabel, an advanced Ph.D. student in French Language and Literature, who has been offering writing tutorials at the McGill School of Environment since 2009.
