Canada Graduate Research Scholarship Doctoral (CGRS D)

Major changes -

  • Applicants of any citizenship are now eligible to apply, but non-Canadians not holding "protected persons status", must be registered in their doctoral program for Fall 2025.

  • Eligibility window extended. Number of months in program is now up to 36 months for ALL applicants.

  • Units to receive individualized quota from GPS via email in August 2025.

Canada's three federal granting agencies have been working together to further harmonize and launch the Canada Graduate Research Scholarships - Doctoral (CGRS D) Programs. These replace the CGSD and still include a common webpage, harmonized application timeline, and program descriptions.

  • Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)
  • Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)

More information on the CGRS D program including eligibility, application process, and selection process is posted on the new Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Research Scholarships - Doctoral Program webpage.

Students will still apply via each agency specific web site linked from the new Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Research Scholarships - Doctoral Program webpage. Application portals open 08 July for CIHR & SSHRC and 09 July for NSERC.
