Grandfathering of the MIDAs Program

As of May 1, 2011, the MIDAs program was phased out in favour of a graduate funding mechanism wherein funding programs are developed at the Faculty level, allowing Faculties to accommodate the unique situations of their students.

While the MIDAs program accepted its last cohort of students in the Winter 2011 semester, International PhD students currently receiving the MIDAs will be grandfathered into the program, and will continue to receive the MIDAs as long as they maintain their eligibility.

  • International Students who register full-time in a PhD program up to and including the Winter 2011 semester whose fees are not paid by a third party contract.
  • Eligible students will continue to receive the MIDAs until the natural end of their eligibility, when they are no longer subject to the charge of the international supplement (typically when they have reached PhD 5).
