Nicolas Kenny

nicolas.kenny [at] sfu.ca (Nicolas Kenny) is a member of the Department of History at Simon Fraser University, where he teaches Canadian and Quebec history in programmes offered in both English and French. His research focuses on urban and cultural history, and in particular on Montreal and Brussels in a transnational and comparative perspective. He is particularly interested in sensorial and emotional experiences of the urban environment, and their role in the construction of urban dwellers’ relationship to the profound transformations that marked these cities in the context of industrial modernity. He is the author of The Feel of the City: Experiences of Urban Transformation (University of Toronto Press, 2014) and co-editor, with Rebecca Madgin, of Cities Beyond Borders : Comparative and Transnational Approaches to Urban History (Ashgate/Routledge, 2015)
