On May 11th, the Cure Foundation is launching its 25th edition of #CURENationalDenimDay to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Did you know that 1 in 8 Canadian women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime and that breast cancers occur in men too?
McGill University’s Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Research Centre (GCRC) has directly benefitted from funds raised through the Cure Foundation via grant support to researchers.
Yu Gu is this year’s Cure Foundation Award recipient and her research focuses on breast cancer tumour dormancy that can cause cancer recurrence. It is the largest contributor in breast cancer morbidity and a main hurdle in current treatments. She aims to understand how cancer cells enter a state of dormancy and what allows them to eventually wake up and cause an aggressive disease.
With great progress being made in research to improve breast cancer patients’ therapies and outcomes, we hope you will support us today.
It’s time to throw on your favourite denim, and donate today.
