The GCRC wishes to acknowledge and recognize the immense commitment of Ms. Kappy Flanders, a friend of the GCRC and a great advocate, educator, philanthropist and social activist.
In 1994, after the passing of her husband Eric M. Flanders, Ms. Flanders and her family created a chair in Palliative Medicine at McGill, in his honour. She devoted the next decades of her life to the cause of Palliative Care at McGill and in Canada, reaching out to professors and colleagues to set up the Council on Palliative Care. In the last years, Ms. Flanders played a significant role in educating the public on recent developments in medical sciences by setting up the Mini-Med lecture series.
We wish to underline the important support of this wonderful woman to the cause of Palliative Care at McGill. She will be sadly missed and we offer our sympathies and prayers to the family.
