Winners by a special judge
Our judge was Chloé Savard, a student in microbiology and immunology at the Université de Montréal who discovered the world of microscopy 3 years ago. Appearing as @tardibabe on Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube, she transforms the imperceptible into a work of art while educating and raising awareness about the fragility of these tiny ecosystems.
Using only her iPhone and microscope to create her work, Chloe has earned two honorable mentions in the Nikon Small World In Motion 2022 competition. Using different filters and methods to illuminate her samples, Chloe can transform a single drop of water from a swamp into a landscape that looks like it came directly from another planet.
For the category "Discoveries of the GCI": Constellations of Cells - Romane Monnet
For the category "GCI Scientists in Action": The Lab Supper - Anne Blouin
