Checklist

Getting ready for university should be an exciting and worry free time in your life, so to help ease your preparations we’ve compiled a checklist of the most important things to do before arriving at McGill.

Fall Orientation

The focus is on you during Orientation Week and the different events and Froshes at McGill provide fun and exciting opportunities for everyone in our diverse student population.  That's why we ask all new undergraduate students to be on campus the week before school starts. Orientation Week and Froshes are not only a great way to make new friends during your first week at McGill, but also give students a chance to explore the world-class city of Montreal before hitting the books!

What to pack

Take note that your packing list may different, based on if you are living in a McGill Residence or in off-campus housing. Make sure to check with Residences to see if certain items (e.g., kettles and other appliances) are allowed in your particular room/apartment.

Services

Find a cell phone provider, bank, and more

Moving to a new city involves more than just hunting down a place to live — you may need to find a bank, a daycare service or even your neighbourhood post office. Our mini-guide can't possibly list the thousands of service providers that dot the city, but it's a good place to start.

International students
