Fostering Inclusive Spaces

December 9, 12pm EST What is anti-oppression? What is anti-racism? What is netiquette? How can I leverage my curiosity to create more inclusive communities? In this webinar, participants will learn about terminology related to equity centered education. They will then use that knowledge, as well as their previous experiences, to discuss how they can help create inclusive virtual communities. This session will not be recorded.

Learning with Zoom (Grads)

Interested in learning the basics of Zoom for engaging in your Winter courses? This interactive webinar hosted by TLS will let you explore and familiarize yourself with Zoom, a reliable web conferencing tool that allows instructors to convene online meetings with students, chat with or without video enabled, and deliver presentations. We will go over how to use Zoom as a student, practice using some common features, and give you tips and techniques to support your remote learning success.

Getting Started with Supervision December 17, 10am EST

This 90 minute interactive webinar will provide McGill graduate students and postdocs with practical approaches to building a productive relationship with their supervisor. Through a combination of discussion prompts and case studies, students will be given the opportunity to explore strategies for communicating with their supervisor, best practices for clarifying expectations, and ways to incorporate work-life balance into both their supervisory relationship and their broader graduate school experience.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify strategies for clarifying expectations with your supervisor
  • Gain an understanding of the resources available to you around the topic of supervision

Remote care options in the COVID-19 era will also be discussed.

In this webinar, you will have the opportunity to meet your Graduate Local Wellness Advisor (LWA) as well as the PGSS Health Commissioner. They will present important information regarding your health resources on campus through the Wellness Hub, in addition to information regarding health and dental care plans.
