DESCRIPTION:This year's Dr. Hirsh Rosenfeld Distinguished Lecture in Family
  Medicine will be presented by Mark Ware\, MD\, Associate Professor at the
  Department of Family Medicine and Director of the interdisciplinary Alan 
 Edwards Pain Management Unit\, based at the Montreal General Hospital.\n\n
 In this public lecture\, we will examine the scientific basis of pain\, ex
 plore the range of strategies available to manage pain and discuss the gap
 s in our knowledge of pain and its implications. We will also examine pain
  through the patients’ eyes using artistic expressions to convey the profo
 und impact\, positive and negative\, that pain has on our cultural and soc
 ial lives. Between the lenses of art and science\, we will explore the wor
 ld of pain and strive for a better understanding of this important and cha
 llenging symptom that all too often becomes a disease in its own right.\n
