Published: 1 December 2020

The Department of Family Medicine is thrilled to welcome Francesca Valenti as the new Research and Graduate Program Manager. Francesca has a Bachelor’s degree in International Development from McGill University and is currently pursuing a certificate in Project Management at HEC Montreal.

Francesca has been working at McGill University since 2017 and has previously worked in diverse settings including international and local NGOs and start-ups. In her time at McGill, Francesca developed student engagement and international mobility programs in the Office of the Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning), and optimized systems and special projects in the Academic Affairs Office of the Faculty of Medicine. She has been a member of the My Engaged Workplace Learning Committee since 2019.

Francesca is the Operations Officer of the Board of the Centre Amal pour femmes, which provides free, linguistically-diverse and culturally-competent services to women and families facing domestic violence, mental health issues and other difficult circumstances.

In this position, Francesca will be managing both the administrative and student-related initiatives of Family Medicine’s graduate programs. She will also oversee the activities with regards to research. “I was drawn to Family Medicine because of the Department’s interdisciplinary approach to both research and community engagement, and its training in participatory research,” shares Francesca. “I’m really looking forward to collaborating with the vibrant teams and students in the faculty and together, building strong links between research and graduate programs."
