The McGill Department of Family Medicine presents "Lost in knowledge syntheses? A road map with decision aid for ressources" by Pierre Pluye, MD, PhD, Reem El Sherif, PhD(c), MSc, MBBCh, Peter Nugus, MAhons, MEd, PhD, Tibor Schuster, PhD and Isabelle Vedel, MD, PhD

This seminar is about a roadmap to help clinicians, managers, graduate students and researchers to choose the appropriate path for synthesizing knowledge in family medicine education, quality improvement and research (including literature reviews), and accessing appropriate method reference. Based on 10-years experience teaching reviews in the department, co-presenters will propose and discuss guidance for (a) planning and writing a reasonable literature review chapter for a thesis, and (b) planning, conducting and reporting a decent specific review with qualitative or quantitative or mixed synthesis pertaining to a research question and justifying future primary data collection/analysis (hereby saving time and resources compared to browsing the literature with NO plan for the review process and the synthesis method).

Join us afterwards for our "Buck-a-beer" Faculty, Staff and Student Mixer Event, from 4 to 6 p.m.
* Beer will be sold at 1$ each.
