Parents Committee

The McGill Medicine Parents Committee is a great resource for parents who sometimes wonder how best to support their future McGill doctors as they pursue their dreams.

Established in 2015 in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine’s University Advancement office, the Parents Committee organizes panel discussions and other get-togethers for parents, and also offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year. These volunteering roles give parents a chance to discover the Faculty of Medicine while doing something concrete for students, such as offering a nutrition break during exams.

In addition, the Committee plays a philanthropic role. In the past, it has raised funds for McGill causes, notably Student Wellness and an upgrade to the McIntyre Medical Building. Many of the enriched educational experiences students enjoy are made possible by donor generosity. The Committee’s goal this year is to help increase the capacity and services of the WELL Office, which creates, promotes and sustains a culture of wellness and resilience within the academic and clinical learning environments at the Faculty.

The Chair of the Medicine Parents Committee for the 2019-2020 academic year is Rachel Schwartz, mother of Jake and Ezra, Medicine Class of 2020.

The Committee is looking for new members! Email us at medparents [at] for more information.
