In each McGill building, a staff member is appointed as Building Director (BD) by the Dean of the Faculty occupying the spaces, or, in the case of administrative spaces, by the director/senior director of the unit occupying the spaces. In the absence of a director/senior director, the BD is assigned by Facilities Management and Ancillary Services.
Building Directors are responsible for applying policies related to access, building use, maintenance, safety and security. They also serve as the main liaison between building users and the service departments involved in the operation, maintenance and renovation (where applicable) of the facilities.
